Tough Dog Chew Toys | For Aggressive Chewers

Through being a dog owner of 2 amazing dogs now and a dog parent in my past, I have tons of firsthand knowledge on good dog toys.  Which dog toys are the best tough dog chew toys and which will last the test of time.

I like to use the 10-min test where you give your dog the toy, stand back patiently waiting to see if that toy is destroyed in that time or not.  If it is then that is not a good toy for an aggressive chewer.

Every dog requires different types of chew toys and what works for one dog, may not work for another.  You really need to understand your dog and at what stage they are at with toys.  So are they a puppy needing teething toys, or an adult dog that like to chew with a full mouth of adult teeth.

Bone aggressive chewers

Every dog aggressive chewer has a favourite type of chew toy.  For some dogs it’s the bone aggressive type toy.  The best toy for this is the Durable Dog Chew Toy Bone for the aggressive chewer.  Made of durable nylon material that is safe, non-toxic and bite resistant.

This substance can be safety excreted normally through the body even if they accidentally swallow some of it. The bone is made to keep your dog mindfully busy and physically stimulated.  Toys like this are also great for promoting a strong jaw and clean teeth. The beef flavor also makes this bone smell good and comes in S, M, L sizes for any size dog.

Rope chew toys

A lot of large and extra large dogs prefer to chew on a rope toy, that can also be pulled or tugged on.  One of the top rated rope chew toys is the Superlike Dog Rope Toys.  This toy is made of safe and non-toxic, 100% washable natural cotton fibres.  It is braided for extra strength.  These fibres make it a great toy for dental health, it’s great for chewing and cleaning the dog’s teeth.

This rope will keep your dog entertained and exercised all day inside or outside.  With this type of rope toy, you can also use it for training your dog on when to tug or drop the toy when properly asked.   A second choice in the same category of tugging toys, is a great toy called the Durable Dog Chew Toys 13 Inch bone shape made from TPR,non-toxic.  This toy is also safe and very durable.

This toy is not indestructible, so please supervise your dog while playing with this particular toy.   A toy like this also is a great toy for your dogs dental health.

Both of these toys are great for tugging and tough aggressive chewers. Selecting the right one will be up to your dog’s taste.

Treat dispensing dog toy

The treat dispensing dog toy comes in a few different style variations to give you and your dog a choice of which style is the best suit for your dog.  The first one is the JW HOL-ee Roller Original Treat Dispensing Dog Ball.   This toy comes in many sizes from: Mini, S, M, L, LX and Jumbo.

The ball is made from natural, non-toxic rubber and comes in many colors to choose from.  This type of rubber gives it strength, bounce and a soft texture.  The design of the ball is unique and allows you to stash treats inside for hours as it rolls around. Your dog will get tons of entertainment from this toy. .

There is also a super popular West Paw Zogoflex Tux Interactive Treat Dispensing Dog Chew Toy.  This toy is a super cool shape and neat concept.  The difference with this treat dispensing toy is you actually stuff the treats in the hollow spot underneath the toy.

The Zogoflex chew dog toy, Tux Toy, is suggested for dogs that have the need to gnaw at things. Another cool thing with this toy is it can be used in water, because it floats. Great summer toy.

The box or pack of toys

As dog owners, we never know for sure which toy our dog will most enjoy, so the option is to buy one, then another and so on. This can end up getting a bit expensive.  To avoid guessing which toy will be the favourite, there are box choices or packs of tough chew toys all put together, this will give you a ton of options to choose from.

The first choice is the Dog Toys for Aggressive Chewer | Multiple Choice Dog Rope Toys.  A pack of toys offers your dog different options to choose from. It comes with an assorted amount of rope toys and rings in all different styles and shapes to entertain your pet for hours.  This box is more geared for the small to medium dogs and are 100% safe.

There is another option, a wonderful company called Bark Box which offers a monthly subscription for a price around $30.  Every single month a Bark Box package is sent to your home with 2 different toys, 2 different treats and 2 meaty treats.

From month to month every box comes in different themes and is a surprise every month just to see what’s inside.

If your dog is the super chewer that we have been talking about Bark Box also offers a Super Chewer program for the dog that needs the tougher toys.

Dog Toy Roundup

We have talked about many options and ways that you can purchase the proper Tough Dog Chew Toys for your dog. Most choices always come down to what best works for you and your pet.

Something that works for me and my dog, may not be the right decision for you and yours.  If constantly going to the store to buy new toys is not something you want to be doing, then the Bark Box option would be a great choice for you.  It comes right to your front door.  That option may not be something that works for you, purchasing a pack of  different toys may be the one shot purchase for you that  covers all your needs.

It boils down to spending the time with your puppy or dog to see what kind of actions they are starting to do with  their chewing and try to match the right toy.

Do the research.

HAPPY CHEWING !

  1. I definitely have an aggressive dog that chews hard, it’s hard to find a toy that he doesn’t destroy in a matter of days. He also gets bored really easily, that’s why I think the multiple toy pack is the best option for me. I won’t introduce him to the whole 10-pack all at once though, I’ll give him maybe 2 toys and then take them away and introduce another 2 different ones, then keep going and rotate them so he doesn’t get bored. Thanks for sharing your review.

    • Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your comments. Your idea of purchasing the multi pack sounds like a great choice. Holding them back is totally something that I do. Keeps some mystery for them when you hand them a new one.

Sounds like you have captured a great solution to try to keep your dog from getting bored. Best of luck!

  2. Hello Carolie,

Wow, I didn’t know there were that many different types of dog chew toys, but I am no expert at dogs at all. I don’t have a dog, but I know people who do and would find this post very useful and helpful.

The post is also filled with many important information about each toy’s material, characteristics and other things dog owners should considerate before buying any of them. This way they can find which is best for their dog.

    Best,

  3. Great post! I love the durable chew toy bone, but unfortunately my doggy doesn’t like the texture of these ones, she loves to rip stuff up! I try and get her interested in rope toys, so that the fibres slide between her teeth like dental floss haha but I can’t leave her at home alone with her toys in case she eats some unfortunately.

    • Hi Josie,

I really appreciate you sharing your dog stories. Every dog is so different, something that works for one, doesn’t work for the other.

Funny enough my little cockapoo is more of a toy destroyer than my larger Doodle. My little Boo likes to pull apart anything with fabric. So I definetly always keep an eye on him. I don’t think leaving toys around is possible with some dogs.

      Safety first right.

Thank you for commenting on my post.

    • Hi,
I love the Classic Kong. It is one of my favorite dog toys.
For my boys, I always put peanut butter inside my KONG. They love it.
Not of course in moderation is the key to not over doing it, but you could also use a low fat crucnhie treat like Old Mother Hubbard Treats as they are all natural and much better for your dog.
I hope this helps with your decision.
Thank you so much for you comment, I really appreciate it.
