Wobble Wag Giggle Ball Review | Is It A Good Toy

Entertaining our dogs with toys that are interactive and good at helping burn off that extra energy are generally the best toys to get.  Anytime you can come across a toy that claims to provide both of these things, we certainly need to check out.  The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is a dog toy that has seen many mixed reviews from dog owners.  For that reason, I wanted to check into it for myself to see what my opinion of this toy really is.

Just because it is good for one dog, that doesn’t mean that every dog will love it.

What is it

Originally this toy came to the market as an As Seen On TV product.  It is made by Allstar Innovations.

Now though it can be purchased from a few different places online.

The toy is shaped in a ball design that once set in motion, produces sound as it rolls.  The sound is a giggling noise that is meant to hold your dogs attention.

When your dog nudges the ball with his nose or hits it with his paw causing it to move, the giggling sound is made. The sound is meant to sound like human laughter and keep your dog interested in continuing to move the ball around.

The more the ball moves around, the more giggles the machine produces.  Your dog will be playing for hours and hours.

How is it constructed

The ball is made of pet safe Phthalate-free vinyl, that is durable, extremely flexible and bite resistant.  The ball is 5.5″ in diameter and requires no batteries to operate.

Inside the ball has 3 inner tubes, that create the sound when the ball moves.   It comes in only one color which is light green with navy stripes on it.  The authentic ball also has navy writing on it that says Wobble Wag Giggle.

There are indented holes in the ball that are sunk into the ball with small speaker like holes that allow the sound to emit from.  They are also indents that allow your dog to grab it with his teeth, that are called clutch pockets.  Made with an anti skid surface helps make it easier for your dog to grab on to.

The construction of the ball makes it usable inside or out, which ever you choose.  You can very easily wipe the ball down with a rag to clean it off, if it happens to get dirty.

To activate the ball so that it starts giggling the ball needs to be moved in some way.  Your dog can nudge, push, paw it or even just put the ball on a slope and it will roll sending out the giggling sounds.  The great thing about the sound is that it resembles a human laughter.

For your dog, that human component of the sound will ensure that your the dogs attention is captured by the toy. When you dog continues to play with the ball for a long period, the more thinking your dog will do.  They really have to focus their attention on continually moving the ball if they want to hear the sound come out of it.

To get your dog even more interested in the giggle ball you can shake the ball in your hand and throw it like in a game of fetch.   The difference being that as you are throwing the ball the movement causes the ball to make noise. Your dog will chase after it like no other ball.

I have always found that dogs are always more interested in something like a toy if we play along with them.  It seems like our interest in the toy causes them to love it even more.

Pros and Cons

The reviews, as I mentioned are somewhat mixed when it comes to the ball.  I always like to give the perspective buyers all the information good or bad and let them decide for themselves if they want to try a product with their dog.

The Pros are:

  • Made of durable pet safe free vinyl
  • No batteries required to operate
  • Easy to use
  • Fun for every age of dog
  • The sound that it makes
  • Can make your pet happy
  • Good exercise
  • Works indoors or outdoors
  • Priced very reasonably

The Cons are:

  • Can be a bit big for smaller breed dogs
  • Not recommended for the extreme chewer
  • Maybe too noisy
  • Your dog may not like it
  • Can cause your dog to bark at it
  • If dropped for a height it can crack

As you can see, there are lots of Pros on the list and a few Cons on the other side as well.  Like most web sites where you can purchase the ball from also show many customer reviews that you can read.  I have found that it’s always best to see for yourself.

The price is so reasonable that you can easily purchase the ball and if for some reason your dog doesn’t enjoy the ball, you can always donate it to a shelter near you.  They are always looking for good dog toys for their dogs.

Overall review

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball review I have done is to help give you all the information about the ball so that as a dog owner you can decide if your dog would like this ball.

Dogs and balls have always seemed to be a good idea in my life.  Both of my boys BOO and FINN loved them.   Anytime you wanted to see them happy, engaged, and basically running around, you just had to pull out a ball.  They also responded very well to laughter and giggling.

They would run over the second you were holding a toy that made any kind of noise at all.  My boys were one small and one large breed dog, yet they equally loved the same toys.  Playing with yours, also really helps to promote a real connection between you and your dog.

A dog that is an extreme chewer would need supervision just to be when they play with this ball.  Like any toy, if your dog is a toy destroyer, attention is always necessary when they play with toys.   No matter what the toy claims to be able to with stand, paying a close eye one them is the responsible dog owner thing to do.

Nobody wants to have their dog sick from eating something that they shouldn’t be ingesting.

Overall I think this toy is a great choice for dogs.   It will provide hours of fun for you and your dog.  You can easily purchase this great interactive dog toy at Amazon or Chewy.

I hope that you have enjoyed my review of the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball.  I would love to hear your thoughts and comments below.

  1. We have three dogs. A medium size Maltese poodle and two small terrier mixes. This Wobble Wag Giggle ball sounds like it could be a good toy for them. The size of the ball is definitely fine for them to move around. Until we have one I’m not sure if they can grip the indents with their mouth.

They love to bark so one of our concerns is this toy could make them bark more. Not good. However if they focus more on playing with it there attention may be sufficiently engaged to stop them barking. It’s worth a try.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    • Hi Edwin,

I love that you have 3 dogs.  They certainly sound like they are a ton of fun.  I think this ball could be a great interactive way for them to play.

The barking thing is something, that you will have to see how they respond to it.  You could try it outside to start with, just in case.

Best of luck with your fur family and thank you for sharing your story with me, I appreciate it.

  2. Yes, these balls make a dog go absolutely nuts. I had one for one of my prior pups and he spent hours barking, chasing, and playing with it. To the point of annoying at times so we would only let him play with it in the yard. Our dog got a lot of quality exercise from this Wigle Wag and Giggle ball but sadly even though he didn’t chew it up, and it never got wet it only lasted about 6 months.

    • Hi Andy,

Glad to hear that your dog enjoyed the ball so much.  Sorry that it didn’t last as long as it should have.  My dogs loved it and ours lasted quite awhile. I guess like all things when it comes to dogs they aren’t created equal.

Thank you for your comments on my ball review, I really appreciate the feedback.

  3. Thanks for your post on the Wobble Wag Giggle ball, that looks like a great idea to check out, dog’s and balls always fit and if the toy has something to offer that will strive it’s attention, that is a plus.

We have two dogs, one full grown and a puppy, regardless of their age difference, I know that both of them would get hours of entertainment out of this great invention, thanks.

    • Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your comments on my post.  I am excited for you being a 2 dog owner, I always loved having 2 at once.  It is exciting for them to have a partner in crime.

I think your dogs would really love this toy and play for hours with it.

Best of luck with the new puppy.  Enjoy every minute of it.

  4. From your description of the toy, I already love it. That human laughter features sounds so interesting and I feel like I should get the toy for myself. This is very different from the normal balls and toys that just have color feature in them and nothing else. Allstar Innovations went to really great lengths with the design and functionality of this dog toy. I love that the balls also have holes that the dog can hold on to when retrieving the ball. Thank you for this in depth review of the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball. I already love it.

    • Hello Carol,

I appreciate your feedback on my wobble wag giggle ball review.  It really is the coolest toy around.  Dogs in general love a ball toy especially one that giggles.  I love that the holes make it easier to pick up and play.

I am so glad that you love the ball.

Thank you for commenting on my post.

  5. My cushions

My dachshunds love to play with this ball, but the small one get frustrated because it is too large for her to pick up, is there a smaller version?

    • Hi Diane,
Thank you for your interaction and comments on my post. I am sorry to say that the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball only comes in the one size.
It can be a bit big for the smaller dogs, but it can still be fun for them to chase it around rather than carry it.

They really should make it in a few different sizes.

I appreciate you sharing your question with me.
      Best of luck
